Awhile ago, my friend Joy invited me up to look at her fabrics. She said she had lots and she wanted to share with me. She wanted to give me the gift of her stash of threads, charms and fabrics. I drove up north of the river to North Kansas City. We went to work one Saturday sorting through many treasures.
What started out as an adventure into Joy’s extensive stash became a give-back. Five years ago, when I cleaned out my studio and took a break from quilting, she went through my stash and took some of the fabrics and threads. The rest went to a local junior college for making dresses for charity.
She gave back my rayon thread cones. I found much of my original fabrics in her collection. In the end, much of what she took came back to my collection…with a few new treasures from her. Joy said, “I was just holding them for you.”
Then, of course, we went shopping for more of the same. 🙂
