Part of my restart in sewing, quilting, and beading, is to use upcycled or freecycled fabrics in my works. The terminology for these types of materials are:
Upcycle: Reuse (discarded objects or material) to create a new product.
Freecycle: Getting materials for free! What could be better?
My fabric stash is currently modest, so my adventures into increasing it are not just fabric and quilting stores. There are many places to scout for materials. I went to recently, “Fabric Recycles”. It is a store full of donated and estate fabrics, notions, and tools. I picked up some fabrics and a few zippers for some projects in the works. Other places to seek out fabric and notions are thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, Freecycle groups, and many more.

For any items I make which are over 90% upcycled, I’ll be using the tag, “Red Panda Upcycling”. Why a red panda? They are one of my favorite animals, of course! π
Have a great weekend!
