Amoeba Art

Abundant in nature, amoebas can be found in fresh and salt water, also upper levels of soil as well as on plants and in some animals.  These one-celled organisms constantly change shape to travel, reproduce and feed.  Each species of amoeba have their own collection of morphing shapes.

Masses of beads and thread ‘float’ on the surface of these colorful one-of-a-kind works.  Amoeba Artworks are hand embroidered with hand-dyed threads.  Each piece features a bead collage and charm.   These ‘bead-terials’ are fashioned into pins … regular ‘proto-sewans’.

The term amoeba may be used to refer to something with an indefinite, changeable shape.  Watch as these small art creations transform in color, shape and texture as the series expands.
